Jerome David Salinger

Jerome David Salinger (1919 - 2010) was an American writer, novelist and storyteller.

He published a few stories between 1948 and 1959. He exited the literature world in 1965 and got famous by his only novel “The Catcher in the Rye” which he wrote for ten years. The novel became a trend amongst the American students.

He was born in New York where he spent most of his childhood.

After he finished elementary school he was sent to a military academy Valley Forge where he spent 2 years. When he got out he studied at the University of New York.

In the Second World War he was a true hero and even participated in the invasion of Normandy. He even succeeded to write a bit then and he met Ernest Hemingway.

In the beginning of his love adventures he was in love with Oona O’Neill that ended up marrying Charlie Chaplin. In 1945he married a French doctor Sylvia but they got divorced and in 1955 he married Claire Douglas. That marriage also ended in a divorce after which he got closed up in his own world.

He died on January 27th, 2010.
