Nancy Farmer
Nancy Farmer was born on July 7th, 1941 in Arizona. She grew up in her father's hotel on the border between Arizona and Mexico and she worked on the reception since she was nine yers old.
She graduated from Reed College in 1963 and later on she studied chemistry and ethnology on Berkley, California. Nancy joined the peace corps and went to India. She worked in Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
In Rhodesia, she met her husband Harold Farmer. She is currently living in Arizona and has a son Daniel.
Nancy started writing when she was 40. She writes science fiction and children and young's books. Her first book "Do You Know Me" was published in 1993 and she received and the award for it. The prize Newberry Honor was given to get for "The Ear", "The Aye and the Arm", "A Girl Named Disaster". "The House of the Scorpion" got her a National Book Award.
Nancy wrote nine novels, three pictures books, and a few short stories. Her books are translated to more than 26 languages.
