Felix Salten

Felix Salten was an Austrian writer, born in Hungary in 1869. His real name was Sigmund Salzman, he used Felix Salten only for writting. In addition to writing, he was also a literary critic. His most famous work is the novel for children "Bambi".

Felix Salten was only 16 years old when he had to leave school because his father was bankrupt and recruited into the army. He started working for an insurance agency, but at the same time began publishing poems and literary criticism. Soon, he had a steady job as a literary critic when he published his first collection of poems.

He published short stories, novels, plays, essays, and reviews. In addition, he wrote screenplays and librettos for operettas. he also worked for all the major newspapers in Vienna.

During World War II, he moved to Switzerland after Hitler banned his books and when life in Austria become too dangerous for the Jews.

He sold "Bambi" movie rights for just 1.000 dollars. Later, these rights were sold to Disney where they made a cartoon feature film, and the story became popular all over the world.

In addition to the novel "Bambi" he is known for novels "Bambi's Children" and "Perri and dog in Florence."

Felix Salten died in Switzerland in 1947.
